Our Philosophy
We place our trust in the magnificent process of natural childbirth and its immeasurable mental, emotional and physical effects on the baby, the mother, the father, and the family as a whole.

We believe that through thorough education, preparation, proper nutrition, healthy exercise, and lots of practice a pregnant woman can be trained to tune into the impulses and needs of her own body to relieve her self of fear, anxiety, and stress in order to completely relax to give birth to her child without the need for harmful drugs or unnecessary medical interventions. Additionally, we try to promote the inclusion of the mother's husband, partner or other trusted person into the process as a supportive labor coach or doula. Many fathers experience birth as an emotional journey of their own and find it hard to be objective in such situations.  When both the expectant mother and father are properly educated and trained, the natural birth process loses its popular fear based mystique and the couple can carry on diligently with confidence and courage when making informed decisions about the birth of their choice and through the next phases of life with a perfect beginning together as a new family.

We find that mothers who give birth naturally, drug free, and free of unnecessary medical intervention with a supportive husband or partner present form stronger emotional bonds with their child and each other. Studies have found that labor coaches or doulas offer numerous benefits both to the mother and child. Women supported by a labor coaches or doulas have a reduction in the duration of labor, less use of pain relief medications, lower rates of operative vaginal delivery, and in many studies a reduction in cesarean deliveries. Newborns in births supported by labor coaches or doulas have lower rates of fetal distress and fewer are admitted to neonatal intensive care units. In addition, one study found that 6 weeks after delivery, a greater proportion of women who were supported during labor  reported greater self-esteem, less depression, and a higher regard for their babies and their ability to care for them.
